Jamie & Josh’s Cross Creek Ranch Wedding | Amalie Orrange Photography

Driving to Cross Creek Ranch from our home in Orlando felt like we are on our way to the middle of nowhere, and that got me thinking.  What the middle of nowhere is for one is the center of life for another.  When wedding days happen, no matter where they happen, that time, that place and those people who partake are in the center of the universe.  To the couple getting married, even if the closest other person isn’t for miles, it wouldn’t matter.  The only thing that would matter is the love and the laughter and the friendship that only a wedding day could bring.

I saw first hand the center of the Universe for Jamie and Josh on their wedding day.  I saw the family gathered, the friends rejoicing, and the love that was being witnessed by all.  I saw the nerves, the smiles and the dances.  I saw old friends give speeches, I saw a mother dance with her son, and father dance with his little girl, I even saw a horse head photo-bomb the portraits.  Yes, even though it felt like a long drive for me, it did not feel far away at all.

These two love each other, that is apparent as soon as you meet them and I hope it is as apparent in the images that we took.  Their day was fun, laid back, and even had a bonfire for roasting marshmallows.  The beautiful Cross Creek Ranch could not have fit these two any better.  Yes, I have to say, this was right in the center of everything.  Jamie and Josh, thank you for inviting us in and letting us share this amazing day we will never forget it.

Here’s to Jamie and Josh: May wherever you to are be home, and may home always be the center of the Universe.

Sarah from Weddings by 2+Hue and I have been planning this shoot since December, we ended up pushing it back once before. But the day before our shoot there were tornado warnings and torrential rain, my daughter got strep throat, I had strep throat but,  Sarah and I were determined to pull off our shoot. We had spend months shooting ideas back and forth over many phone conversations and we were so excited for this day!   We decided the rain wouldn’t stop us, we pulled the entire shoot inside the estate house and honestly I don’t think it could have turned out better.  The light was pouring in the room through the windows of the tea room and you couldn’t even tell that it was raining outside. Luckily the rained stopped for about 20 minutes and we ran our gorgeous model Jennifer outside to get a few shots of her on the grounds of the  Cypress Grove Estate House.

I am in love with everything about this shoot, from the gorgeous gold and mint details, the delicate tea set, the invitations, the flowers, the cakes, oh my the cakes were amazing!!  Butter cream filled the air as Sarah and I set up all of the details of the Peach Bellini bar, the Peach Preserve guest treats and the insanely gorgeous main table.  We had the A team, a rock star list of Orlando’s top weddings professionals which all came together to showcase their outstanding talents and put together a gorgeous shoot that I am so smitten with.  And, we are honored to tell you that this gorgeous collaboration is also featured on Ruffled Wedding Website.  Feast your eyes and what would be my dream wedding…

Enjoy,

Abby & Nick’s Winter Park Wedding

Meet Abby & Nick, who met inTallahassee, FL while they were both second year law students.  Nick, a die-hard gator fan and UF alum, transferred to FSU law after a year at Ole Miss.  His best friend and fraternity brother was in one of Abby’s law school classes and told Abby she needed to meet his friend who was transferring.  Jokingly, she said, if he’s an obnoxious Gator like you, this Seminole fan is not interested.  Little did she know, their mutual friend talked her up to Nick.  And, that entire summer they all hung out as friends. Their first date was October 24, 2008. I guess you can say, the rest is history.

How Nick proposed:  Nick and Abby both live in Jacksonville, FL.  After a year or so of renting a house with a group of guys, Nick was bit by the “house buying” bug.  Abby would walk through houses with him and comment on design ideas, etc.  At this point, Abby and Nick both knew that any house would one day become their home together.  Fast forward to actually buying a cute, 1960’s red brick house in Jacksonville.  After getting keys to the house, but before moving anything in, amidst drop cloths and paint cans in an empty living room, Nick got down on one knee, said that he wanted to start their life together there in that house. How stinkin sweet is that!

Jeff & I had such a great time with Abby & Nick and we wish them many years of happiness.

Kayla & Chad’s Wedding | Dade City Florida | Amalie Orrange Photography

A bit of a disclaimer on this blog post: normally I take pride in telling the story of the day, the history and lives behind the two people so in love in our photos.  This time, Kayla is going to tell the story herself, I think it is only fitting.  Here is the love story of Chad and Kayla in her own words,  “In 1997 Chad and I attended the same middle school in our hometown of Dade City. Both of us went to different high schools, but we still remained friends since one of my best friends (and bridesmaid) lived directly across the street from Chad.  Little to Chad’s knowledge at the time, I spent many hours spying on him and his friends from just across the road.  After high school, we both moved to different cities to attend college and after a few years we found ourselves back in the Dade City area.  On an ordinary night out with friends we both ran into each other at a local hangout.  We talked a few times throughout the next few weeks, and Chad invited me to have lunch with him.  After a bit of convincing from friends I finally decided to take him up on his offer.  Well, a thirty minute lunch break quickly turned into four hours, and I knew that afternoon we had something special.  From that day on there has not been a day that has gone by that I have not been so thankful that we met for lunch. Who knew the perfect man for me was here all along!”

And this is the story of how this boyhood crush proposed to the girl that has been waiting for him all along:

Chad proposed to Kayla in the middle of packing up their old apartment to embark on a new adventure together of homeownership.  It was common for Chad to bring home boxes from Lowe’s on a daily basis and May 6th was no different.  On this Sunday afternoon, after Kayla had spent a day of shopping with her  mom,  Chad came home from work with more boxes.   He told Kayla that within the boxes were more packing supplies for their stuff, so she responded, “Want to see what I bought today?”   She tried on five dresses before he could say no.  After the fashion show, they discussed dinner options for that night.  He had just gotten home from work, and was unmotivated to make a decision.  He said, “All I want to do is play with the bubble wrap in that large box.” so, Kayla immediately headed toward that box.  When she opened the box, to her surprise, heart-shaped balloons flew up to the ceiling!   She asked, “What is this?”  He said, “Keep going….” Tied to the end of the balloons’ strings was a small box. He smiled and said, “Open it.” Inside was Kayla’s ring!   She was shocked and all she could say over and over was, “What is this? What is this?”   He stopped her and replied, “What do you think it is?”  He was the one that took the ring out of the box and he got down on his knee and asked, “Will you marry me?”

Here’s to Kayla & Chad, may you always be as giddy as the Middle School days that brought you together.

XOXO,

Jeff and Amalie
